Privacy

A group card is made from people's faces, so we keep photos private, use them only to make the card and delete them soon after. This notice explains what we collect, why, and for how long.

Who we are

grouparti is responsible for your data; our details are under the title of this page. Questions: hello@grouparti.com.

What we collect

From the organiser: your name, email address and sign-in details when you create an account, and the card's details: the recipient's name, the occasion, the dates and the front text.

About the group: the names and email addresses the organiser enters, and the recipient's email if the organiser gives it for the e-card.

On the card's wall: each message, and the name anyone who isn't in the card types for it.

From each person in the card: the photo they upload, the character they pick, the likenesses we paint from the photo, and their message.

For an order: what was bought, the price and currency, and the name and postal address the card goes to. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never reach us.

Why we use it

To make the card: send invites and reminders, paint each likeness and the final card, take payment, print and post it, email the e-card on the day, show everyone in it the finished card, and show the wall's messages with their writers' names. And to answer you when you contact us. We don't send newsletters or marketing.

Our legal basis

Photos and likenesses: the consent each person gives when they add their photo. The organiser can add someone's photo and message for them. By ticking the box they confirm that person agreed, and they take responsibility for it. If anyone in the card, or the person it's for, tells us they didn't agree, we withdraw the card: the e-card stops working, every picture and message is deleted, and the printed card is stopped if the printer still can. A withdrawn card isn't refunded.

Names, emails and messages: to make the card the organiser asked us for. Orders: to sell and deliver the card, and to keep the records the law requires.

Who sees what

Until the card is delivered, each person sees only their own photo and likenesses; the organiser sees the likeness each person chose. Photos are never public.

Once the e-card is sent, everyone in the card and the recipient can see the finished card, with every likeness and message. The e-card link works without an account, so anyone it's shared with can open it. If the organiser opens the card's wall and shares the link before the date, whoever has it sees the finished card then.

Who processes it for us

Clerk (the organiser's sign-in), Convex (our database), Cloudflare (hosting, file storage and cookie-free visit counts), Replicate and OpenAI (the image model that paints the likenesses and the card), Stripe (payments), Prodigi (printing and posting) and Resend (emails). Each handles your data only to provide its service to us.

Training

We never use photos, likenesses or cards to train AI models.

How long we keep it

Your selfie is deleted as soon as you choose your likeness. The painted versions are deleted 30 days after the e-card is sent: the versions we painted and the chosen likeness, keeping only the finished card.

Anyone who hasn't chosen their likeness by the deadline is taken out of the card, and their photo, painted versions and message are deleted then.

The finished card, the messages and the wall, everyone's names and email addresses and the e-card link are deleted 12 months after the occasion date. The link then says the card is no longer available.

If someone leaves the card or the organiser takes them out before it is built, their photo and likenesses are deleted straight away. Orders are kept for our accounts, without the name, address or email.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or take back your consent to your photo: email hello@grouparti.com. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Cookies

We use only what the site needs: cookies to keep an organiser signed in and to remember the currency you chose, and your browser's storage to remember who you said you are on a card's wall. No advertising or analytics cookies.

Where your data goes

Some of our processors are in the United States, so your data may be handled there, under the safeguards they provide.
